do you ever feel less than?

So listen to:day tribe, here’s the thing with this business of comparing yourself to others. The basic premise of comparison, in defining your self worth, is at the core of how we hurt our own hearts, how we misjudge and even mistreat ourselves.

It’s an economic concept that defines the value of one commodity (your self-esteem) by measuring it with another commodity (how you esteem someone else), in how much purchasing power it yields. It’s a great concept… for commerce… but, not a great one for your heart.

It creates activity in trade and transactions, it facilitates buying and selling and it makes sense in the marketplace. But it does not work for your sense of self worth, because… price fluctuates.

How valuable are you? Now? Tomorrow? Early morning? Lunch break? Or 4.04 am when proofreading blog posts? Truly think about this for a moment…

Now chances are that when you first consider your value, your brain seeks to compare yourself to other people. You attempt to gage, validate or determine your value based on your perceived value of others.

And this is the core of the issue…

The problem is we take this economic way of thinking, and try to use it to determine our own worth… but it just doesn’t apply.

You see, if… you use this commercial form of comparison in relation to your own personal value, you enter into an emotional marketplace wherein your value can be bought and sold. You end up feeling the need to buy back your sense of self-worth… Because you gave it away to a mental construct or set of criteria that don’t serve you – in fact it’s hurting you. It causes depression, low self-esteem, emotional stress, despair, apathy, overcompensation and more.

I don’t want that for you. So please feel free to enroll in our online class ‘boundaries’ to learn more about boosting your self worth.

See you in class 🌸✨
